MAIS Scholarship Fund About the Scholarships Ten scholarships will be given annually in the amount of $1000. Selection will be determined by a seven member selection committee, and will be completed no later than April 1st of each year. The scholarship is for one year, and scholarship monies will be issued to the student. Applications must be received no later than February 15th of each year.
Eligibility Requirements To be eligible, an applicant must: Be a full-time student in his or her senior year at a MAIS member school. Be a US citizen Have an ACT score of 24 or higher Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher Attend an accredited two-year or four-year post-secondary institution Submit a completed application by February 15, 2012
Selection Guidelines The selection committee will base its decision on an applicant’s: Academic Achievement (50%) Extra-curricular activities/Community service (15%) Essay (15%) Demonstration of financial need (20%)

COPIAH ~ LINCOLN COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2012-2013 Scholarship Information
Scholarship Guidelines Students who apply before March 1, 2012, will be given priority in the awarding of scholarships. Students must submit an ACT score to the College and be a resident of Mississippi to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship recipients must maintain continuous full-time enrollment. Scholarship recipients dropping below full-time status or withdrawing from school will lose their scholarship and will not be reinstated. Scholarships will be awarded for four semesters unless otherwise noted. Scholarships may be stacked; however, students will not receive any combination of scholarships valued over the cost of attendance for Co-Lin as determined for Federal student aid. Academic scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and Recognition and Service recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA. The grade point averages will be checked at the end of the spring semester. Endowed scholarships have specific GPA requirements. Academic scholarships are for first-time entering freshman who enter in the fall or spring semester immediately following their senior year in high school. Academic scholarships are not available to transfers students.
Academic Scholarships Honors Scholarship: Half tuition (20-24 ACT) Deans Scholarship: Full tuition (25-26 ACT) Vice Presidents Scholarship: (27-28 ACT)- Full tuition and $500/semester Co-Lin bookstore voucher President’s Scholarship: 29+ ACT/National Merit/Achievement– Tuition, room, meals, and a $500/semester Co-Lin bookstore voucher. Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarship: ($1000 award for the two years/$500 per semester)- Student must have a minimum 20 ACT and confirmation from the high school counselor is required.

Co-Lin Community College Fred and Jewett Taylor Presidential Scholarship– This scholarship was established by Fred and Jewett Taylor of Oxford, Ms as a $6000 scholarship to be selected annually by the College President with assistance of a selection committee. The committee reviews application materials and forwards recommendations to the President who interviews the top applicants. Students should: 1. Write a letter of application expressing you interest in the scholarship. Please indicate which campus you plan to attend. 2. Provide an up-to-date resume, including high school activities, community service activities, church activities, personal interests, leadership roles, etc. 3. Have your high school principal/counselor send an official transcript to the college. 4. Write an essay of approximately 500 words on the topic “Describe your ideal career and how Co-Lin will help you.” Essays should be typed and double spaced. Submit all application materials to the President’s Office by March 19, 2012. |
